Katie and I love all kinds of hockey romances and we both loved Him & Us. Good Boy is a standalone spin off of those, we meet Jess and Blake in Us. We both loved Good Boy and are anxious for the next in the WAGs series!
Hosting her brother’s wedding for an MVP guest list is the challenge of Jess Canning’s life. Already the family screw-up, she can’t afford to fail. And nobody (nobody!) can learn of the colossal mistake she made with the best man during a weak moment last spring. It was wrong, and there will not be a repeat. Absolutely not. Even if he is the sexiest thing on two legs.
Blake Riley sees the wedding as fate’s gift to him. Jess is the maid of honor and he’s the best man? Let the games begin. So what if he’s facing a little (fine, a lot) of resistance? He just needs to convince the stubborn blonde that he’s really a good boy with a bad rap. Luckily, every professional hockey player knows that you’ve got to make an effort if you want to score.
But Jess has more pressing issues to deal with than sexy-times with a giant man-child. Such as: Will the ceremony start on time, even though someone got grandma drunk? Does glitter ever belong at a wedding? And is it wrong to murder the best man?
Warning: Do not read while sipping hot liquids. Or cold ones. Or while sitting anywhere laughter would be inappropriate. Contains hot but hilarious hockey players, puppies and a snarky pair of underwear.
I fell in love with Blake in US and I love him even more after Good Boy!
Blake is such a fun and unique character, he makes up his own words and marches to the beat of his own drum. Being in his head is fantastic he has such a Blake way of doing things. Alike the title Blake is a good boy, we see a really good guy side to him and I love that. I enjoy him trying to figure out what the hell to do with Jess. They have a good bond and both don’t really know what to do with it. I enjoyed Jess too, she is fun and somehow able to keep up with everything that is Blake Riley. I enjoyed the fun and sexy that was their story. I wanted a little more cute romance towards the end, but it was still the fun and happy I was hoping for!
Good Boy was absolutely hilarious! It’s been a while since I have laughed this much during a book, but when you have a character like Blake, that’s bound to happen. We already got to see how hilarious he is from Us, but in Good Boy we also get to see how much he cares about those he loves and how protective he is of them. It was nice to see that side of him since we only really got to see the funny side before. He’s perfect for Jess. Her life is very busy and stressful and he knows how to put a smile on her face and make her feel better about herself. They’re an adorable couple and I loved all their interactions. They kept me smiling and laughing throughout the book. I of course loved all the Jamie and Wes stuff that we got, especially their wedding. I was expecting a little bit more towards the end of the book, but it was still a good way to end the book. I love the duo of Elle Kennedy and Sarina Bowen and can’t wait for Stay.
